JoAnn M. Macdonald received a Bachelor's of Science in Education with an emphasis in biology from Towson State College. She is the author of the Dictionary of Unitarian Universalist Biography for Antoinette Brown Blackwell, which was published in an abridged version in an anthology, "Voices from the Susquehanna" titled "A Little Child Will Lead Them" in 2005. Volume 2 of "Voices from the Susquehanna" anthology included the biography of Maria Mitchell, discoverer of Comet Mitchell IV (1847) titled "Star Date," was published in 2011, which celebrates Mitchell's achievement. Macdonald's writings
