Bob J Lyles was born in rural-central Mississippi in 1940 in a log cabin. For a brief time his father was a sharecropper, just as those depicted in this book. Although this is a fictional rendering, an effort was made to accurately describe the hardships that existed at that place and time in history for people of all colors. He went on to earn several advanced degrees in the engineering and business fields of study.
