John Alexander Lott was born in Provo, Utah in 1980. He grew up on a fruit farm in nearby Orem, Utah. As a child, he would spend hours in his family's apple orchard dreaming up stories and adventures. As the son of a history teacher, John grew up with a passion for history and often dreamed of traveling to the different places and times he learned about. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to South Korea, where he was influenced by the rich abundance of Asian history and cultures.
