Bob Looker was born in Winchester, Hampshire. But grew up in the small village of Jevington, in the South Downs of East Sussex. He was surounded with the tails of the local smugglers and their hideouts. At 16 years old he joined the Royal Sussex Regiment and later transferred to the Royal Army Pay Corps. During this time Bob travelled extensively - Malta, Libya, Aden, Germany, Holland, Norway, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and throughout the UK. After 23 years service he left the Army.
