Robert W. (Bob) Littlefield caught the aviation bug during his tour of duty with the U.S. Army in Vietnam in 1969-70. He started as a helicopter repairman and became a flying crew chief and door gunner on UH-1 "Hueys." After returning home he earned his Private Pilot license in 1973 while attending Arizona State University. In short order he added his Commercial Pilot license, and Certified Flight Instructor rating, Advanced and Instrument Ground Instructor certificates and Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic licenses.
