Dianne Lipscomb was born in the year the Communists overtook mainland China, a fact she was totally unaware of in her home, Jackson, Mississippi. She did notice fallout shelters later and thought the world was coming to an end with the Bay of Pigs threat, again an event that only marginally caught her attention as she was focused on horseback riding. As a teenager she shifted gears, going from horses to fast cars, and the world also shifted around her.
