The journey started in 1978, four years after Renelle graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. Inspiration for this new art form began while Renelle was living in Norway in 1979. She began creating Symbolic Art Patterns after designing the trademarked Lewis and Guggenheim Collection of black iconography in 1991 with the late Mary Guggenheim in Paris, France.
