DALE McCONKEY is Assistant Professor of Sociology at Berry College, Georgia. He has written several articles exploring the relationship between traditional religion and contemporary society, and he is editor (with Peter Augustine Lawler) of "Community and Political Thought Today" (Praeger, 1998).
