Kunze, Reiner

Born in 1933, the son of a miner, Kunze lived for years in the DDR, studying in Karl Marx University in Leipzig. He began published in the mid 1950s, coming to major attention and eventually becoming a best-selling author in Germany. He has been awarded the Literature Award of the Bavarian Academy of Arts and the Georg Buchner Prize
