Kunitz, Stanley

Stanley Kunitz [born in Worcester, Mass. in 1905], whose honors include the Pulitzer Prize, fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation, and the Lenore Marshall Prize, has had a long and varied career as poet, editor, essayist, translator, horticulturist, and mentor of young poets. In 1992, Harvard awarded him its Centennial Medal and he received a National Medal of Arts in 1993, presented at the White House by President Clinton.
