Hannes Krehan was born in 1984 in Rostock. After graduating from the University of Rostock with a Bachelor's degree in English and Spanish, he transferred to the University of Jena, where he took up a Master Program in English. During his studies, he focused on American Literature, developing a particular interest in the American classics like Henry David Thoreau, Mark Twain, Ambrose Bierce and Jack London, but also in the modern works on different youth subcultures by authors like Irvine Welsh, Douglas Coupland and Alex Garland.
