Matthew Kinney was born in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. After spending some time in New York and Virginia, his family finally settled down in the desert Southwest where he spent the remainder of his childhood. After a short stint in Portland, Oregon, he decided he wanted to see the sun again, so he returned to the southwest where he now works as a masonry contractor and writes in his spare time. Matthew owes a great debt of gratitude to his wife and son who, after reading the rough draft of "Dead, but Not for Long," begged him not to quit his day job.
