Noel Kelly, known as "Ned," was born in the Irish countryside just north of Dublin, seventh child of ten. When Daddy left for England, Ned took it upon himself to look after his Mammy. The generous would have called Ned a cheeky chappy, but to some he was a "Little Fecker," as he did whatever was necessary to put food on the table and wood on the fire for his family.
