Allan Katz was raised in Brooklyn, where he started delivering produce at the age of nine. He went on to become a messenger boy in Manhattan, a shipping clerk for a Brooklyn sweater and brassiere factory, and a warehouse manager and shipper.
After taking night classes at RCA Schools, Katz launched a career as a technician for New York Telephone. He worked there for over thirty five-years before retiring.
Katz is married, with three children and grandchildren.
