In 1941, Wally Kasper went straight from Leader, Saskatchewan High School to the Royal Canadian Air Force where he trained as a pilot. A year later, he was flying Lancaster bombers over Germany. He moved on to Spitfires and after the war to the University of Toronto where he studied philosophy and political science. He was called back into the air force to teach NATO pilots and did a stint in intelligence in Europe during the Cold War.
