William D. Russell, J.D., recently retired as professor and chair of the Division of Social Science at Graceland University, Lamoni, Iowa. He is a former president of both the John Whitmer Historical Association and the Mormon History Association. Russell has published articles and reviews in the various Mormon studies journals and has three books in process: one is Homosexual Saints: The Community of Christ Experience; the other two are on the recent (1980s) schism in the RLDS Church and the 1989 cult murders in Kirtland, Ohio.
