Jonas has been actively involved in the human rights and world peace movements for more than half a century. He graduated from Stamford in 1951 with a BA in Journalism and Social Sciences, obtained a Graduate degree in Chinese Studies from Columbia's East Asian Institute in 1953 and a Master's in International Affairs from Columbia's School of International Affairs in 1955. He directed his own public relations and fund-raising firm specializing in these areas.
