Josee Johnston is Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Toronto. Her major substantive interest is the sociological study of food, which is a lens for investigating questions relating to culture, politics, gender and the environment. Josee Johnston co-authored (with Shyon Baumann) Foodies: Democracy and Distinction in the Gourmet Foodscape (2010: Routledge). She has published articles in venues including American Journal of Sociology, Theory and Society, Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society, and Gender and Society.
