William R. Jankowiak is professor of anthropology and ethnic studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In addition to Romantic Passion: A Universal Experience?, he is the coauthor of Drugs, Labor, and Colonial Expansion; Urban Mongols: Ethnicity in Communist China; and Sex, Death, and Hierarchy in a Chinese City. His next book City Days, City Nights: China, 1981-2007 will focus on the degree to which institutions and personal lives are being transformed in China.
