Dazz Jackson began writing poetry after he discovered the tremendous works of Langston Hughes, and James Baldwin. These two great poets, with their mastery of painting pictures with words, inspired him to put pen to paper at a very young age. In the beginning, he wrote poems about the color of the sky to the little girl down the street whom he had a serious crush on. Nothing was off limits, if it moved him, he wrote about it.
