HR grew up in the deserts and mountains of New Mexico-the Land of Enchantment. From a very early age, he was always exploring, adventuring, and learning-roaming through the wilderness with his dog, Scamp, building an erector set, or mixing chemicals in his bedroom. HR never outgrew his driving desire to understand how things work. He began his formal education while serving in the US Air Force, where he also met and married his beautiful wife of 27 years, Gwen.
