James Hulbert was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, and was raised in Washington D.C. He graduated from Harvard University and the Harvard Business School. After graduation, he spent a year hitchhiking and staying in Youth Hostels across Europe and North Africa. He spent three years at the National Broadcasting Company in New York City, and the rest of his career at the National Association of Broadcasters in Washington, DC. He divides his time between his vacation home in Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and Washington DC. He is the author of two novels: "Noon on the Third Day" about a U.S.
