A Grand Forks, North Dakota native, Merrie Rolland grew up spending summers on Lake Bemidji in Northern Minnesota. Two generations later, this story began as a song that she and grandson Carter created while floating on the big blue lake one warm sunny day. A graduate of the University of North Dakota, Rolland has travelled in 24 countries and still calls Northern Minnesota one of her favorite places.
