I am a theoretical physicist by training, having spent 30 years of my working life in the defence industry. I retired ten years ago as project manager for a large project to design and supply torpedoes to the Royal Navy. Since then I have worked part-time as a science editor and research coordinator in the field of nanotechnology. I am married with two grown-up sons and share my time between sailing, travelling, working and sometimes writing.
