Hitz, Mary Buford

Born in Richmond, Virginia and educated at Smith College (B.A.) and George Washington University (M.A.), Mary Buford and her husband spent the first years of their married life in West Africa, where she taught in both Nigeria and the Ivory Coast. On their return to Virginia they settled in Alexandria, where Mary Buford worked for magazines and newspapers as a free-lance journalist.
