Nikolaus P. Himmelmann is Professor of Linguistics at the Ruhr-Universitat Bochum. His research interests include typology and grammaticisation theory, prosody, and grammar as well as language documentation and description. He is the author of an in-depth study of the typology and grammaticalization of demonstratives and articles (Tubingen: Niemeyer) and co-editor of The Austronesian Languages of Asia and Madagascar (London: Routledge).
