Christine Hill was born in 1968 in Binghamton, New York. After studying art in Baltimore she moved to Berlin in the early 90s. Her concept of an "everyday job as artistic activity" has led her to work as a tour guide, a TV talk show host, a masseuse, a waitress, the lead singer in the German rock band Bindemittel, and the shopkeeper of Volksboutique, a franchise of which was installed at Documenta 10. Solo installations of her work have appeared at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Leipzig, the Kunsthalle Bern and the Cleveland Contemporary Art Center. In 1997 Hill moved to Brooklyn, where
