Margaret Eileen High (nee Hutchings) was born in the small community of Bell Island off the east coast of Newfoundland, Canada. She is the daughter of an iron ore miner and a stay-at-home-mom. At sixteen she moved to Cambridge, Ontario to find work and stayed with her aunt until her parents arrived one year later with her two younger brothers. Married at nineteen, Margaret had her first child at twenty-one, a beautiful daughter. And four years later she had a son.
