Born in London during the Blitz under the sign of Aries, and subjected to rationing and post-war depression, Jonathan Hewitt left England in the ?60s. The Empire, which had offered careers and a home to so many of his ancestors, having recently been wound up, he decided to try his luck on the Continent. He has spent the greater part of his life along the northern Mediterranean, living and working in France, Italy, Monaco and Spain.
