Heppel, Hermione

Hermione Heppel was born in Edinburgh in 1953 to a Navy family who happened to be stationed on the Clyde at the time, and subsequently moved to Cornwall. Her background is in physics and philosophy, based on a burning curiosity about how the world works and a basic intolerance of ambiguity. She also completed a PhD in Cybernetics in 1986. She has no coherent career to point to, but worked as an engineer in a telephone exchange after the physics degree, a self-employed gardener when the boys were at school, and more recently a technical author in telephony software user interfaces.
