Jurgen D. Henning qualified after completing a seven year study in electronic engineering in Germany, with an emphasis on measurement, regulation and computer science, and then spent quite a few years working in the electronics and computer industry. About 20 years ago he started off on his motorbike (a BMW R80GS) in order to find out - in the course of a year and a half - whether the world is really round (he said later: that was by far the best thing I ever did in my life).
