South Carolina native Rebecca Helms has been a lauded writer since sixth grade, when she won her first contest. She has since been published in the Christopher Newport University literary magazine, "Currents", as well as in the poetry anthology, "East of Sunrise". Helms holds a BA in English and an EdM, but though she taught high school English for a time, she came to realize that her true passion was to write for a living.
