Maxx Hassell is a survivor of sexual abuse who knows all too well the emotional struggle that comes in its wake. He also knows the power of healing. The singer/songwriter has worked in recent years giving motivational speeches at schools in Chicago's south suburbs in order to reduce and diminish cyber-bullying and other tech abuses. He is also founder of the Bright Ideas Scholarship Program, which gives financial awards to students in different disciplines, like arts and entertainment, athletics, and citizenship.
