Hasek, Jaroslav

Cecil Parrott, translator, biographer and unrivalled authority on "Jaroslav Hasek" (1883-1923), describes him succinctly: 'Truant, rebel, vagabond, anarchist, play-actor, practical joker, bohemian (and Bohemian), alcoholic, traitor to the Czech legion, Bolshevik and bigamist.'
