Harrison held numerous positions during his life, including Controller of Antiquities, Cyrenaica; Lecturer in Roman Archaeology, Bryn Mawr College; Lecturer in Roman and Roman-British History and Archaeology, University of Newcastle upon Tyne; and Professor of Archaeology of the Roman Empire, Oxford.
