For Dawn, writing is a little like breathing. If she doesn't do it for a while, she begins to feel faint and disoriented. It's always been so, maybe because she believes with Terry Pratchett that "writing is the most fun you can have by yourself," and definitely because she finds writing a challenging and illuminating process.
