Nikolai Burlakoff was born in Europe and spent the first part of his life in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. After arriving in American he first lived in Pennsylvania, then New York City, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Indiana, before returning to the New York area. He traveled widely, and currently counts more than 30 counties and 40 states on his list of places visited.
