James M. Gustafson has been a leading and formative figure in the field of Christian ethics over the past fifty years. His contributions to theological ethics have helped to define and shape ethical thinking by Christians who reflect on great moral issues. His most recent book is Moral Discernment in the Christian Life (Library of Theological Ethics, Westminster John Knox Press). Among his classic works are Can Ethics Be Christian?
