Judge Grussendorf has been active in immigration law for two decades. His first legal job was with the Central American Refugee Center in Washington, DC, at a time in the mid-eighties that refugees were streaming into the nation's capitol seeking protection from three wars in the region. In 1986 he took over the direction of the immigration law clinic at George Washington University Law School where he represented indigent clients for a decade, before being selected to be an immigration law judge.
