Professor E. E. Gdoutos is Director of the Laboratory of Applied Mechanics and Director of the Section of Design and Construction of Structures, Department of Civil Engineering, the Democritus University of Thrace. He is visiting Professor at the University of California at Santa Barbara and Davis; the Michigan Technological University; the National Technical University of Athens; and the University of Toledo. He is a member of the editorial board of the journals Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics, Applied Composite Materials, and Advanced Composite Letters. Gdoutos is Fellow of ASME,
