The author lives in Molalla, Oregon with her husband and two miniature schnauzers. She has one other book published "The Angry Trees," and believes there should be a moral and a learning experience in whatever we put into the lives of our children. She has illustrated two other children's books and is currently doing illustrations for her next children's book 'The Princess and the Dragon." She became interested in elk when asked to do some drawings for The Rosse Posse Elk Farm in her town. The pictures in the book are drawings of elk she viewed at the farm.
