I was born and raised in Welland, Ontario and began my post-secondary education at the University of Ottawa, and then, in order to be closer to my future wife, I moved to the University of Toronto. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in History and while teaching full time, completed my Honour's degree in History, earned a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's degree in school administration.
