Fridrikh Furman was born in 1931 in Ukraine, and lived most of his life in that country. He graduated from Odessa University, worked in research institutions and taught in colleges in Donetsk, earned a Candidate of Sciences degree in Leningrad, and published two monographs on economy of new industrial enterprises in Moscow.
