Betty Friesen was born in Crimea of the Ukraine in 1916. She with her parents and family lived through some of the troubled times in Russia in those days. The family spent a year in Germany, then immigrated to Kansas in the USA. In 1926 they moved to Canada and that is where she lived her life. She married Andrew Friesen and lived near Ste Anne Manitoba for the rest of her life. She passed away in 1999, after a full and interesting life. Her life story has been published in three volumes, all called Granny's Story. They are: Are We Home Now?, Which House is Home?, and A Home for the Heart.
