Trained as an educator, administrator, counselor, and mental health professional, his career has focused on the care and treatment of children and youth with serious emotional problems. He retired in June, 1999 from his position as Executive Director of Hawthorne Cedar Knolls of the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services of New York, a large residential treatment center and now is employed as a consultant
