Frederick, Shawn

Shawn Frederick was born in Rochester, New York. He grew up when it was a Kodak town, riots were burning down the inner city and the local rackets were run by Frank Valenti and Red Russotti. After graduating high school he hitchhiked around Europe and ended up working in the Jura Mountains of France. Since then he has spent nearly half his life abroad, both working and studying in Europe, the Middle East and Japan. He holds graduate degrees from the University of Michigan and Columbia. He is currently university teacher in Tokyo.
