I was brought up in the Vale of Avoca, County Wicklow, Eire, made famous by the poet Thomas Moore and the BBC with Ballykissangel. My education was in the hands of the Dominicans, famous for their treatment of Cathars and heretics, but fortunately their methods had somewhat mellowed by the time they came accross me. (?)
