Carter V. Findley is president of the World History Association and professor of history at Ohio State University, where he and John Rothney co-founded the world history program. He received Ohio State's Distinguished Research Award in 2000. A specialist in Turkish studies with a lengthy bibliography, Dr. Findley has also written two major books on Ottoman history, both published by Princeton University Press: BUREAUCRATIC REFORM IN THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE: THE SUBLIME PORTE, 1789-1922 (1980) and the prize-winning OTTOMAN CIVIL OFFICIALDOM: A SOCIAL HISTORY (1989).
