Bernard Mulo Farenkia is Professor of French and Linguistics at the Cape Breton University in Canada. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics (1997) and a Habilitation in Cross-cultural Pragmatics (2004) from the Saarland University (Germany). He was Humboldt Research Fellow at the Saarland University from 2003 to 2005. His research focuses on discourse pragmatics, speech act theory, language contact, German/French Applied linguistics and linguistic politeness.
