Monica's love of things Regency started when she first read "Pride and Prejudice" at thirteen. Immediately afterwards, she went through a reading binge of Jane Austen's novels then discovered Georgette Heyer as well. All good things must come to an end, however, and, as a literature professor, her early interest in Jane Austen was taken over by other writers, though she took to reading Regency romances as her guilty pleasure whenever she got a chance.
